With me it was socks. For a year or two back 3 or 4 years ago the churches and advocates were handing out socks. I lost count on how many I picked up in my alley. You see the church and others would give them a bunch of pairs of socks to protect their feet and keep warm The homeless would then use them to wipe their butts after taking a dump in the alley. I picked up hundreds of socks covered with shit. They dropped them on the ground, threw them in bushes and even over fences into backyards, where kids could come in contact with them. I went to several of the churches and it finally stopped for a while only to start up again 5 or 6 months later. I finally collected them for 2 or 3 weeks in a hefty trash bag and dumped them at the church. That must have done it as the socks no longer show up. Now we are in an election cycle and every lying son of a bitch candidate is running on the promise they will end homelessness. Like we have not heard that BS the last 6 years, and the problem has only gotten worse. Portland has become a giant cesspool. We move them around every week or two but we never stop them. I was picking a friend up from the airport and overheard a couple telling their friends they would not visit again. Nasty, smelly, pissy, shitty, Portland. A giant trash bag and toilet for drug addicts an feral humans.
